Battalion Chief / Project Manager of Community Risk Reduction

Completed undergraduale studies in crimianl justice at Radford University and attended the Paramedic certificate program at the University of Virginia. He has been working for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department since 2000 with most of his time being spent within the operational arena at busy fire houses. Minus 3 years that he spent within the basic training section at the rank of Lieutenant. where he developed the Advanced Provider program for recruits that entered employment already medic certified, eliminating the need for redundant basic training at he EMT level. Chief Barb moved up the ranks at a steady pace spending time at each rank to master its duties before moving up to senior positions. Chief Barb completed the West Point Leadership Progarm and his favorite leadership phrase is " What your mind doesnt know, Your butt will find out" which came from his late father who served in the Navy. Chief Barb is the Project Manager for Fairfax County's Community Risk Reduction program where he also manages the Community Response Teams for super users of 911 and the Life Safety Education seciton which keeps him very busy. He stays grounded with family and his wife of over 26 years to maintain a life work balance which we all strive to maintain.
