Kathleen (Katie) Pine is an Associate Professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) and an affiliate faculty member in ASU’s Design School and College of Global Futures as well as a Research Collaborator at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Her interdisciplinary work lies at the intersection of health informatics, organization studies, health services research, and public health, with a focus on the design, implementation, and use of data-driven technologies to improve health care delivery in prehospital, community, and clinical health settings. She has an ongoing stream of research examining the "data work" that is required to produce, manage, and deploy data insights and has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on several federal grants to investigate these dynamics in healthcare and EMS contexts, including two current National Science Foundation grants. She earned a PhD in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Informatics at UCI and at Intel Labs.
